My Precious Sisters in Christ,
I know many of you have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this packet. Well, wait no more! Hopefully, this is all the information you will need to secure your reservations for our 2009 Ladies Retreat. All of this will also be posted to the Georgia District website. This has the potential of being the biggest crowd ever; so, don’t tarry long about getting your information back to Lois Smithwick.
I need to make you aware of some changes regarding our lodging and meals. By request of our Camp Manager and approval of District Camp Board, all meals will be prepared and served by the Adrian Kitchen Staff. I do want to express my deepest appreciation for the outstanding job our men have done over the past 16 years, in preparing and serving our meals and so graciously accommodating us in many other ways. The new fee structure has increased our cost; so, regretfully, we must pass that along to you. We will continue to make every effort to keep cost reasonable and still provide the quality program to which you are accustomed.
SPEAKER: Our beloved Allison Durham Speer with be our guest singer/speaker for this year. Many of you have met her and been blessed by her anointed singing at our Georgia District Assembly, for a number of years now. She is truly one of us in faith and spirit! In addition to music ministry, her unique gift of storytelling embraces you with the comfort of a good friend. She shares that her travels to Russia and Bosnia with Christian relief organization International Aid and the Philippines with the American Leprosy Mission have left her changed and moved to a deeper communion with God and with a resolve to banish complacency She reflects: “ We must lose our egos and find our complete identity in the person of Jesus. It is in the shedding of His blood that we find our lives and in His suffering and death alone, that we must boast.
REGISTRATION: All registration forms should be mailed to Lois Smithwick, Registrar, by October 13, 2009, along with a $20.00 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit, per person. Rooms cannot be held without this deposit. If you have a group coming from your church, it is advantageous to mail all forms together. It is much easier for us to make group assignments this way. All checks are payable to: Georgia District Women’s Ministries.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Your options are enumerated on the enclosed registration form. Assignments will be made on a first come, first serve basis. If you are assigned any facility other than Latham Lodge, you will need to bring your own bed linens and towels, etc.
CRAFT FAIR: You will need to reserve your table on the appropriate form provided in this packet and mail to Lois Smithwick. Please encourage gifted ladies from your church and community to participate. This is an opportunity for crafters to make some extra money and for all of us to do some early holiday shopping. Traditionally, venders who participate donate 10% of their earnings to our District Ladies Fund. This money is used to purchase needed items for our retreat and other projects.
OTHER: Sorry, we are unable to accommodate children in our retreat. It is my prayer that God will provide child care assistance so that you will be able to enjoy this weekend with us. Moms….you need a break!
Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening. Please note on your registration form if you will not be arriving in time for this meal. Friday evening refreshments will be served following our general session, which will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Finally, please be responsible for sharing this information with all the ladies in your church, and pray for God’s special protection and anointing throughout the weekend. He is faithful!
Anticipating our time together, Carolyn Pitts Brand, Director
